Why Fuel Filters Are so Important
Fuel Filters keep contaminants from entering your Injectors and Engine. Clogged or Failed Fuel Filters allow any sediment from the gas station tank or tiny particulate matter from fuel manufacturing into your injectors and engine reducing injector life and cause expensive injector repairs. Clogged Fuel or Failed Fuel Filters cause restricted flow of fuel to the engine causing rough running conditions and then vehicle shutdown.

Motorcraft filters are specifically designed to exactly fit your vehicle make, year, model, engine, fuel type, with Ford specified fuel flows for maximum performance. They have extremely high levels of filtration of contaminates. They have extremely tight tolerances for filter media connections to the housing to extend fuel filter life. They provide better uniformity of fuel delivery giving better fuel economy.
How Often You Should Change Fuel Filters
Vehicle type, Engine type, Fuel type, operating conditions, and fuel supplier are key to defining the necessary fuel filter change schedule. Gas engines for cars generally require changing at approx. 50,000 miles (Note: some vehicles now have fuel filters integral with fuel tank). Gas engines for trucks generally require changing at approx. 30,000 miles. Diesel engines for trucks require changing at 15,000 miles due to the contamination in diesel fuel and the useage of biodiesel blends. (Note: Remember that UltraLow Sulphur diesel should be used and that a biodesiel blend above 5% can cause injector problems and that certain ratings less than 40% can cause diesel injector and engine component failures.) Hybrid engines should follow vehicle specific schedule requirements.
